Vienna Philharmonic to livestream New Year concert free to every European school
The orchestra says the initiative will run for at least five years and is “a gift the players wanted, not a promotion”.

The Vienna Philharmonic has announced it will livestream its annual New Year's concert, free of charge, to every registered school in the European Union and the United Kingdom for at least the next five years.
The programme, backed by a private foundation whose name the orchestra would not disclose, includes teaching packs in six languages and a follow-up masterclass series.
“This is a gift the players wanted, not a promotion,” the orchestra's chairman said. “A hundred and thirty of them agreed unanimously, which is not something we're famous for.”
